Heavy Increase In Whangarei Milk Supply

With inclusion of Wellsford and Onerahi in the area supplied and the requirements of the Cape York, the demand for milk supplied by the Whangarei Milk Marketing Company increased greatly during the first 10 days of March. To meet the demand, stated the secretary (Mr F. J. Philpott), the whole of the suppliers, plus two accommodation suppliers, were called upon. PRODUCTION INCREASING

The daily total from normal suppliers v/as now on the increase, the present supply from the 12 farms being 1375 gallons, which is 100 gallons over the amount guaranteed. During February production from the supplying farms declined sharply to 49,309 gallons, compared with 67,609 gallons m January and 78,117 gallons in December.

During this month, however, the majority of supplying farmers have new cows coming in, and it appeal's that ample milk will be available to meet all requirements without the company having to call on the accommodation suppliers, said Mr Philpott.
