Brilliant Meteor

WELLINGTON, Mon. (P.A.)—An exceptionally bright meteor, orange in colour, and said to have lighted the whole seascape, was observed at 10.30 p.m. on Saturday from the yacht Hope in Tory Channel. The director of the Carter Observatory (Mr I. L. Thomson) said the display was obscured by cloud, the meteor being seen only when it emerged, lighting the scene as by a flash of lightning.

Any further reports will be \yel£omed by the observatory.
