APPLE
HASTINGS. The Kempton seedling apple which was 'found* at Havelock North some two years ago is showing good keeping qualities. Wood from* this free has been used on grafted trees in the district with the idea of . trying out the new variety on a more extensive scale for two seasons. Now samples have been placed in cool storage and these have kept extremely well. The seedling shows promise of providing a good coloured , apple which may hold for the pre-Christmas tfade. — (Sp.) * • •
