Wool 6d Lb. Lower Afr Napier Today

NAPIER, Fri. (P.A.).—Prices for greasy wool among the 43.000-bale offering at Napier today, when the first portion was submitted to a full bench of buyers, reflected the easing tendency of London and late Dominion sales. Growers estimated the decline to be in the vicinity of 6d lb. less than they would have received at the January sale, but rostrum comment was to the effect that the market was firm on late sales, with a hardening tendency for better-styled fleeces. Bidding was inclined to be erratic, and was animated only when large lines of reputable standard came forward.

Quite frequently small parcels were neglected, particularly if they were of inferior quality. Pieces, necks, bellies and lambs wool all appeared to be cheaper but erutchings made a fair sale at up to 28Ad per lb.

Greasy fleece wool made up but there were a number of passings and lines occasionally did not receive a bid.
