Hand Badly Crushed, Motor Cyclist's Fall
When his right hand was crushed between a brick wall at the Whangarei Gasworks and the tailboard of a lorry this morning, John McGaughey, 16, employed by Hardie Bros, received severe injuries to the index and middle fingers. He is likely to lose the middle finger.
! Also admitted to the Whangarei District Hospital, David Archer, 25. married, of Kamo, fractured his left ankle when his motor-cycle skidded in loose metal as he was riding to work this morning.
NO APPLICATIONS No applications were received by the Whangarei County Council for the position of county inspector. Six men applied for information of conditions regarding the position, reported the county clerk (Mr G. H. Lloyd). The salary was £475.
