New Jop. Premier Chooses Cabinet-
TOKIO. Tue. (11 a.m.) —Premier Hitoshi Ashida announced tonight that he had completed the formation of a Cabinet.
Ashida is president of the Democratic Party. He was deputy-Premier and Foreign Minister in the Government of Tetsu Katayama, leader of the Socialist Party, who resigned on February 9. Katayama’s Cabinet consisted of seven Socialists, seven Democrats and four members of the People’s Conservative Party.
Ashida’s new Cabinet consists of eight Social Democrats, two members of the extreme Left Wing Party and seven Democrats.
Katayama did not accept office in Ashida’s Cabinet, but Ashida has made Suehiro Nishio. former chief secretary and reputed “strong man" of Katayama’s Cabinet, his deputy-Premier. The Liberals, under Shigeru Yoshida, will continue to sit in opposition.
