Seaplane Service Supported In Bay
OPUA, Wed. <Sp.) Enthusiastic support for the suggestion that a seaplane passenger service to and from Auckland and the east coast ports of Northland, was given at yesterday's; Bay of Islands Harbour Board meeting here.
The subject was broached by Mr W. E. Lane, who said that a seaplane service would be better than the existing land service so far as the coastal settlements were concerned, if only because it was more difficult for the people on the seafront to get to inland aerodromes than it was for inland people to get to the sea. Most transport services were designed along such lines.
Mr J. D. Hislop was of opinion that "we could fill a plane from Opua alone every day. taking passengers from Kawakawa. Opua. Russell. Paihia. and Waitangi.
The board's secretary (Mr A. W. Mulligan > was given authority to back up any move that might be forthcoming for a seaplane service to the northern east coast ports.
