Bees' Flight To Norfolk Island
A pair of queen bees, bred at Ngararatunua, are to be sent by air to Norfolk Island. Reared by Mr F. D. White, wellknown apiarist, the two bees will be following a pair of their sisters who made the air journey a short time ago.
They will leave Whangarei in a special container, on board the National Airways Llectra, tomorrow afternoon and, on the following morning will make the second hop by aircraft to Norfolk Island. En route they will be able to feed from a special block of candy, made from icing sugar and honey, placed in their wooden cage.
Mr White, who has gained some distinction for the strain of queens reared at his Ngararatunua apiarv, has built up a large trade with other apiarists throughout the Dominion.
