Saws From Britain For Kaitaia Mill
ICAITAIA, Wed. (Sp.)—Two 6ft circular saws on order from Great Britain for the past 18 months have been delivered at Kaitaia.
They are for the Kaitaia Timber Company's new electric sawmill, built last year to replace the older installation destroyed by fire. Installation of the twin saws, which will virtually complete the mill’s plant, now regarded as the most up-to-date in Northland, will proceed as quickly as possible. They will enable swift handling of logs up to sft 6in in diameter. Cost of the saws is over £llO each. Reconstructed by the Star Garage at Kaitaia after serious damage by fire and converted to electric power, the company's planing mill is also on the site and should be ready for operation within a fortnight.
