Whangarei Couple Married 50 Years

The golden wedding anniversary occurs today of Mr and Mrs George Bint, of Whangarei. Both were born in London and came to New Zealand at an early age, Mr Bint arriving at Christchurch and Mrs Bint (nee Rawlinson) at Auckland. The marriage took place at Inglewood, Taranaki, on January 13, 1898, and for two years the couple farmed there before moving to the bush settlement of Purangi.

After living in New Plymouth, Bay of Plenty and Auckland, they settled at Maungakaramea, where they farmed for 26 years. They have been in retirement at Whangarei for the past two ye3rs. Mr Bint is now aged 75-and his wife is 69. There are six children and 28 grandchildren.
