No Agreement On Bigger Parliament
CANBERRA, Tue. (11.30 q.m.).—The Federal Cabinet could not reach agreement last night on proposals for a bigger Federal Parliament, and it was decided to refer the proposals back to the Federal Parliamentary Labour Party. If the pre-sessional caucus meeting on February 17 reaffirms its previous decision that Parliament should be enlarged, it is expected that Cabinet will recommend increasing membership of the House of Representatives to 120 and the Senate to 60, comprising 10 Senators from eadh state.
