Hamilton Power Users Warned
HAMILTON, Tue. (Sp.)— Electric power consumers in Hamilton have been warned that the city has exceeded its power quota by 4.55 per cent in the last two weeks.. The Hamilton City electrical engineer (Mr I. Webster) said yesterday that rationing would be the only alternative unless greater care is exercised in the use of electricity. Domestic power consumers have been asked to switch off water heaters between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. daily, while commercial consumers have been asked to reduce their consumption by 10 per cent. Karapiro Generator HAMILTON, Tue. (Sp.)—The work of assembling the heavy machinery for the third generator at the Karapiro state hydro-electric station is well ahead of schedule. Although the unit is officially expected to be in operation by June, it is hoped to have the machinery in use before that. The other two units are performing well and are delivering full power.
