Switzer (Northern Wairoa). Hours of play on each day are 10 to 12.30; 1.15 to 3.45; 4 to 6. The turf wicket at Maungakaramea is in excellent order and the outfield is being closely mown to provide firstclass playing conditions. Northern Wairoa may be at a disadvantage in that their batsmen are accustomed to playing on concrete, and the sudden change to turf may upset them. WIIANGAREI PRACTICE SQUAB

The Whangarei selectors (Messrs C. Hewlett, G. Hook and L, P. Dumbleton) have chosen a squad of 21 players to commence practising for Whangarei’s shield challenge on January 29 and 30. They are: W. Practices are to be held at Kensington Park on Thursday evening and on Tuesday and Thursday evenings of next week and the following Sunday. Players are requested to bring their own bats. Fijian Team To Tour Dominion The Fijian cricket team which will tour New Zealand in February and March is expected to leave Suva by sea toward the end <jf January. The first match will take place at Hamilton on February 10. Five Europeans and nine Fijians have been selected, the team being as follows: P. T. Raddock, P. A. Snow, H. J. Apted, M. J. Fenn, A. Wendt, G. K. Cakobau, Isoa Lagavatu, - Petei-o Kubu, ' Viliame Mataika, Kaminieli Aria, Aisea Turuva, Mosese Bogisa, Semi Ravouvou, Tevita Vakaloloma. Mr J. W. Gosling will manage the team and it is likely that if E. Cakobau, who is at present at Oxford University, arrives from England in time he will be included in the side.

Amarnath, Hazare Add 255 Together HOBART, Tue.—With a third-wicket partnership which added 255 runs in three hours and 20 minutes, Lr Amarnath and V. S. Hazare crushed. Tasmania’s hopes in the second day’s play of the cricket match. Amarnath scored 171 runs in four and a half hours. It was his fourth century of the tour, and brought his first-class aggregate to 936.
