Old President For Rumania
LONDON, Fri. (10 a.m.)—The Rumanian Council of State, which took over after the abdication of King Michael, has named Professor Constantin Parhon, aged 84, as president, says the Bucharest correspondent of the Associated Press. His duties will be the same as the King formerly exercised, The flag of the new Rumanian Republic will be blue, yellow and red, arranged vertically. The Republic’s emblem —a tractor and a group of three factory chimneys with a rising sun in the background -—will be in the centre. Wheat ears, bound with the inscription, “Rumanian People’s Republic” will surround the whole. The Bucharest fadio announced last night that the Rumanian Government was handing over to the people extensive property owned by ex-King Michael and the Rumanian Royal Family.
