PAST INCIDENTS: Previous incidents that have happened in tire Auckland Cup similar to that of last Boxing Day draw attention to the fact that southern horses have been involved in each occasion, with rather unfortunate consequences. In 1928 the Fordell-trained Laughing Prince was bored on to Ihe rails by the winner Coronax. but tollewing a protest the placings were allowed to stand. Two years later the Riceatton gelding Gay Crest was first past the post, but owing to alleged interference the Waikato-trained Molere was awarded the major honours. The incident this year resulted in the Trentham-trained Howe being deprived of success, and once again the prize went to an Auckland horse.
