British Crops In 1947 Were Smaller
LONDON. Thu. (11.30 a.m.).—The Ministry of Agricultures returns for 1947 crops show a general reduction on comparable figures for 1946. The only exceptions were hay, mixed corn and mustard seed which showed increases.
Specimen figures were (1947 figures first): Wheat, 1,581,000 tons (1,882,000): potatoes 5,478,000 (26,840,000); sugarbeet, 2,821,000 (4,447,000); hay from temporary pasture 2,093,000 (3,167,000); from permanent pasture, 2,403,000 (2,207,000).
