WELLINGTON, Fri. (P.A.)-To encourage performers and to secure instruments and music for the National Symphony Orchestra and the New Zealand Broadcasting Service, the conductor of the orchestra (Mr Anderson Tyrer) is making a brief visit to England at the request of the Government,

The Minister of Broadcasting (Mr Jones) said Mr Tyrer would explore the field of musical performance generally with a view to the engagement of performers and artists to appear in association with the National Orchestra and in the programmes projected by the broadcasting service. He would also explore the market for concert grand pianos to see if he could make purchases for the broadcasting service. He would also try to purchase music for the national orchestra. It is expected that Mr Tyrer will return to New Zealand at the end of January.
