P.M. Orders Rotorua Power Restoration

ROTORUA, Fri. (Sp.).—An order for the immediate restoration of full power was given to the electrical superintendent of the Tourist Department at Rotorua yesterday. The cuts had been in force for four days. The order for restoration was given by the Prime Minister (Mr Fraser.) as the result of representations made by the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Parry) who had spent several days in the Rotorua district.

A report that there was no water in the town reservoir yesterday as a result of the power interruptions was deprecated by the electrical superintendent (Mr H. R. Lough).

He said the reservoir had been empty, but not because of the electricity cuts. A fault in the pumping plant had occurred but had been rectified and the reservoir was filling again. While the reservoir was empty the town continued to receive water direct from the springs which feed the supply, although pressure in some localities was greatly reduced.
