OTTAWA.—The Minister of Rescs.irces (Mr Jr A. Glenn) said that Canada welcomed about 75,000 mew citizens in 1947 and at the end of the yyear immigration nvas/ stijl increasing.'
The largest single group from? overseas was from 'BrMain which sent 33,910 persons in the first ‘ll ufonths. In the s;kne period 7345 peoplqj arrived from European displaced persons’ camps.
These formed part of the quota placed originally at 5000 but later increased to 20,0.00. Movement of displaced persons was expected to be completed in the spring.
