No Extra Racing Days
i (15) The Racing Conference asked j for 20 more totalisator days, but the I commission, while not suggesting any } reduction in the present number of j days of galloping, concludes that more { should not be granted, since it would I be unwise to countenance the provision of racing days sufficient to satisfy the present excessive temporary demand when, as history shows, even the slightest retrogression will make many of those days superfluous. It recommends that the totalisator permits to the Otatau, Hororata, Kurow, Kumara, Waiapu and Tolaga Bay clubs be cancelled; that the Kumara permit be allotted to the Westland club; and one day each to the Motamata, Stratford and Taranaki clubs; the remaining two days to be a pool available 'for allotment from time to time by the Minister in consultation with the Racing Conference. It also recommends that the iollow-
ing clubs be amalgamated: North Canterbury and Amberley, to race at Rangiora; Masterton and Carte rt on, to race at Carterton; Marton and RangiUkei. to race at Marton; Levin and Ffixton. to race at Levin (cnly one of the Foxton days to be allotted to the amalgamated club, th« other to be a floating day): and Pahiatua. to race at Woodville, or that the latter club to retain its identity, but race at Woodville (16) The Trotting Conference applied for licences for 90 additional days, and the commission recommends the •ssue of licences for 19 more days and 'he transfer of two licences as follow's: (17) It is not recommended that totalisator permits be granted for dog racing. ( (18) The adoption of any premium bond scheme or a state lottery is not recommended.
