Finding Of Body Of Newly-Born Boby

AUCKLAND. Wed. (Sp.).—The inquest into the death of a newly-born male child whose body was found in a dustbin at the Gi'een Lane Hospital on Sunday night was opened before the A. Addison, yesterday. Dr A. D.THodge said he went to a hospital ward at 8.45 p.m. on Sunday and spoke to an unmarried woman aged 32. Following this conversation witness said he went to a sluice room adjoining the ward and found a large parcel at the bottom of a rubbish tin. The parcel contained a newly-born male child who was dead, the body being cold. Witness stated that the patient told him she had given birth to the child that afternoon. The report of the pathologist (Dr Walter Gilmour) who made a postmortem examnation of the body on Monday, has not been received by the coroner. The inquest was adjourned.
