CTTAWA.L-The Minister of Resell rces (Mr J. A. Glenn) said that Canada welcomed about 75,000 „jnew citizens in 1947 and at the end of the ypar immigration # was.' still increasing. The largest single group from* overseas was from Brfcain which sent 33,31.0 persons in the first -11 q(onths. In the s£ne period 7345 peopiqf arrived from European displaced persons’ camps. These formed part of the quota placed originally at 5000 but later increased to 20.000. Movement of displaced persons was expected to be completed in the spring. * * *
