Heavy Power Cuts In Rostotu Area

ROTORUA, Mon. (P.A.)—Power cuts of three hours’ duration became operative throughout Rotorua borough and part of the county areas today. The cuts will have a serious effect on a number of businesses, especially those dealing with perishable commodities and dependent on refrigeration at this time of year. One of the main effects will be on the pasteurised town milk supply, as treatment will be delayed several hours.

Also, because of a hold-up in the refrigeration chambers, quantities of milk will have to stand in the open before being pasteurised. Butchers also will experience difficulty in keeping meat in cooling chambers through the day. Boardinghouses and hotels are not seriously affected as most have alternative cooking facilities, but will suffer some inconvenience, especially as the town is full of visitors.
