Carnegie Travel Grants Resumed

NEW YORK, Stvn. (10 a.m.)—The Carnegie Corporation of New York announced in its annual report, issued today, resumption of 1 of grants-in-aid for travel and study j available to “key individuals” in AusI tralia and New Zealand, j The grants will be similar to those | made before, the war, which helped j educational administrators, scholars | and leaders in other fields to travel to j the United States, United Kingdom or | other countries to gain first-hand exj perience of work being done abroad in I their own fields, and to become pro- | fessionally and personnally acquaint- ! ed with their “opposite numbers.” THOSE ELIGIBLE i The grants are intended for those j who at present occupy or have been appointed to posts of considerable injiluence, and whose level of recognised j attainment is such that they may be ! expected to derive clear benefit from carefully planned travel and study in other countries, and return, to their posts informed and invigorated. The corporation will be particularly interested, for the present, in assisting those “key individuals,” whose work in teaching research or administration is primarily concerned with some of the more pressing problems of human relationships. I NUMBER AVAILABLE It is considered that such persons will most frequently be found in the fields of law, Government, economics, political science, sociology, and international affairs, as well as history and anthropology in their current social implications, and education in its | broader aspects. j The number of grants in any one j vehr will depend not only upon the! funds available but also upon the char- i acter of the applications and signifi- j cance of the plans submitted.
