Boy Drowned While Father's Back Turned

DUNEDIN, Mon. (P.A.)—David John Ilore, nine-year-old son of Mr 11. D. Hore. of Kyeburn, was drowned in the Taieri River yesterday at a point near Taieri Lake. Central Otago. The boy’s father, who was swimming in the river at the time of the accident, turned to watch younger members of the family, who were also in the water, and when he looked back his son had disappeared. After strenuous efforts made by bystanders and the police, the boy’s body was found at G p.m. in a deep hole a short distance from where he disappeared.
