indian Opposed Deportation Order
AUCKLAND. Sat. (Sp.) —A charge of remaining in New Zealand after the expiration of his immigration permit was admitted by Hari Sahodar Singh, 43, an Indian, who appeared for sentence in the Supreme Court. Prosecuting for the Crown, Mr G. S. B. Meredith said Singh had booked a passage to Fiji by the Matua which sailed in October, but although he was notified of the sailing he did not join the steamer. Mr Justice Callan said Singh had consistently over a long period delayed and obstructed.
He would be ordered to be imprisoned and kept to hard labour for three months and an order was made for Ins deportation. That, His Honor said, would give the authorities ample time to carry v out the deportation order.
Singh said he wished to give of appeal. - His Honor said he would note that,, but he did not say whether it would 'have any effect. Singh must find out about that.
