The highlight of the November meeting of the Paparoa Women’s Institute was a particularly amusing and cleverlypresented sketch entitled “The Allotments. ’’ Those taking part were Mesdames A. Maconaughy and F. Hudson, both of Pa hi.

A moderate attendance of members and friends was presided over by Mrs E. R. Jenkins, who reported having packed and forwarded a parcel of clothes to the Lepers Trust Board. The secretary (Mrs R. C. Cliff) read letters from the Auckland Orphanages United Council and the Lepers Trust Board expressing thanks and appreciation to the institute fo'r its having made generous monetary contributions to their respective funds. The main business discussed was in connection with the forthcoming North Kaipara Agricultural Association's annual show, and the advisability of holding a children’s fancy dress ball prior to the closing of schools for the Christmas holidays.

It was reported that the usual 221 b food parcel had been forwarded to the institute’s link, the Appledore Women’s Institute in Kent, England.

Mesdames Darby and Hudson were delegated to pack and forward the next parcel. The roll call, “Which lines of the Women’s Institute Aspirations do you like best, and why?" produced a variety of interesting and elevating thoughts. Results of competitions were: Knitted article suitable as exhibit in W.I. Court at show, Mrs H. M. Stevens 1. Best bloom, Mrs T. W. Wright 1, Mesdames E. R. Jenkins and R. C. Cliff equal 2. The hostesses were Mesdames A. Martin and H. M. Stevens.
