Trades Council Leaders Missed F.F. Conference
KAIKOHE, Wed. (Sp).—At the opening yesterday of the Bay of Islands Federated Farmers’ sub-provincial conference in Kaikohe, the president (Mr E. B. Bird) told delegates that he had received— on his arrival at the conference—a telegram from the Trades and Labour Council, Auckland, advising that its panel of leaders scheduled to speak and debate at the conference would not now be able to make the trip. No actual reason was given for the withdrawal, but it was hoped, Mr Bird said, that the event would be arranged for a later conference.
The meeting was planned as a result of expression, at the last F.F. conference in Kaikohe of feelings that the primary producer was drifting too far away from the worker and that an attempt should be made to understand each other’s viewpoint.
