Across Continent On Horseback
(Rec. noon) HALIFAX. Oct. 17. Les Frost and Swede Nilsson, two cowboys from British Columbia, today claimed the world record for a horseback ride—42oo miles from the Pacific to the Atlantic.
They began the journey 17 months ago but spent the winter at Winnipeg, so the actual riding time was seven and a half months. When they reached the Halifax waterfront they poured bottles of Pacific water into the Atlantic, symbolising national unity. They financed the trip by selling postcards and singing Western ballads in theatres and on radio stations. They are returning by train.
