American Labour Leaders Re-elected
(Rec. 1 p.m.) BOSTON. Oct. it. The Congress of Industrial Organisations today re-elected Mr Philip Murray president for the eighth successive year. The American Federation of Labour unanimously re-elected Mr William Green as its president. Today’s proceedings were notable because Mr John L. Lewis and all other officers of the United Mineworkers were absent. Mr Lewis earlier this week clashed with the leadership of the federation over a decision to conform to the Taft-Hartley Act, which requires all union leaders to make an anti-Com-munist declaration.
