Four Accidents in For North
(Special) KAITAIA, This Day. Fairly extensive burns to the lower limbs were received during the weekend by Garry Kitchen, four-year-old son of Mr and Mrs Norman Kitchen, of Victoria Valley, as a result of an accident involving burning petrol. The child was admitted to the Kaitaia Hospital and his condition today was satisfactory. Mrs B. H. McNamara of Ahipara, received minor leg injuries in a motor collision at Kauri Flat, three miles north of Waipapakauri, on Saturday morning, The collision occurred between a car driven by her husband and a light truck, the driver of which was Mr S. West, of Kaitaia. Mrs McNamara returned home after receiving treatment at the Kaitaia Hospital. Playing for the Doubtless Bay junior Rugby team against Ahipara on Saturday, W. Wright, aged 16, son of Mr and Mrs B. Wright of Parapara, collided with another player and was admitted to the Kaitaia Hospital with a broken leg. Henry Phillips, a Rarawa senior player, received a knee injury in the match with Herekino United at Ahipara. He was able to return home after hospital treatment. Cases In Whangarei Accident cases admitted to the Whangarei hospital over the week-end included: Douglas Howson, 21, metal worker, of Whangarei, who, while playing for City juniors, suffered concussion. H’.s condition is satisfactory. Alex Matthews, 56, builder, of Maunu, who fell from a building on which he was working and struck a ladder. He fractured a rib. Valerie Sowry, aged 9, of Waiotu, who fell from a horse and fractured both bones in her left forearm. Howard Heeney, of Otahuhu, who suffered contusions during a football match at Whangarei. He was later discharged. % Tragic AccidentCayses Child's Death (P.A.) INVERCARGILL, This Day. A tragic accident, resulting in the death in hospital of a four-year-old girl, Patricia Anne Newell, occurred in Invercargill at about 11 o’clock on Saturday morning. With her parents, she was being taken heme in a taxi when she fell out of the door of the taxi on to the roadway. She was seated in the rear seat of the vehicle and had apparently opened the door. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs W. T. Newell, of Chelmsford Street.
