Visitors From N.Z. institute For Blind
• Among the guests at the Rotary Club’s weekly luncheon today were Messrs G. F. C. Ashdowne and C. A. Pilgrim, who are visiting Whangarei in the interests of the New Zealand Institute for the Blind.
Mr Ashdowne, who lost his sight in a shooting accident in England some 20 years ago, will remain in Whangarei till Thursday, and Mr Pilgrim, who has been a member of the commercial staff of the institute for the past 14 years, will conduct the usual campaign for subscriptions in Whangarei, afterwards visiting Northland centres.
Mr George Mail's is confining his activities to visiting stock sales, where he will again be welcomed by auctioneers and farmers, leaving town and district collecting to Mr Pilgrim. In common with all organisations increased costs are bearing heavily on the Institute for the Blind, which therefore should have a special appeal to all blessed with the possession of sight.
