Survey Children's Cinema Clubs
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. Parents and teachers will have an opportunity of assisting in a six months’ survey of children’s cinema clubs in the Dominion, which is expected to begin this month in Wellington.
The New Zealand Film Institute is to conduct the survey, with'the cooperation of the educational authorities. The institute hopes that parents will write to it giving information of any way in which attendance at cinema clubs has affected their children’s behaviour, speech and outlook. In the schools, teachers will ask the children to write essays and to give talks on what they have seen at the film showings of the cinema clubs to which they belong. When the New Zealand Film Institute was formed at the beginning of this year one of its instructions to a working committee in Wellington was to conduct this survey. The committee has the full backing of the New Zealand Educational Institute and the technical schools and secondary schools’ associations. It will obtain professional advice.
