Ruatoria Combined War Memorial
i Special > GISBORNE. This Day. The result of the joint efforts of Maoris and Europeans of the East Coast, the war memorial hall at Whakarua Park is to be opened by the Governor General (Sir Bernard Freyberg. V.C.t this month. Celebrations will continue for two clays. Commemorating the sacrifice in the two world wars of Maori and pakehn, the hall is 110 ft long by 40ft wide, with carvings and other Maori decorative features.
