Boy Racing Club's Successful Year

(Special) XAWAKAWA, This Day. “Record entries, stakes, gate receipts and club membership made the picnic meeting held by the Bay of Islands Racing Club on January 25 the most successful yet held." said Mr J. Wail, in his presidential report to the annual meeting of the club. Mr Wall pointed out the advantages of having nominations for most of the events, and expressed the hope that the club would continue to adopt this policy. At a sitting of the Gaming Commission in Auckland, Mr Wall said that he had placed the club’s views on picnic racing before the authorities. He had asked that a 5/- totalisator be permitted, to operate on the same lines as the present totalisator, and that stipendiary stewards be appointed by or work under the control of the New Zealand Racing Conference. Mr Wall intimated that a committee had been set up to carry out the work of draining the course, the cost to be borne by the club and himself on a 50-50 basis.

It was expected that this scheme would keep the course permanently in. fair condition. OFFICIAL PERSONNEL
