Aid Burma's Defence

(Rec. 11 a.m.) LONDON, Aug. 29. The Burma Office announced that the British mission in Rangoon and the Burmese Government had reached agreement on peacetime defence arrangements. The agreement will be part of the final instrument of transfer of power. Britain has agreed to give Burma all practical assistance in building and training Burmese defence forces in the years immediately after the transfer so that Burma can enjoy a favourable start as an independent power.
