American Theatrical Troupe To Tour N.Z.
(Rec. 1.30.) LOS ANGELES, Aug. 29. Eight members of the Pasadena Playhouse, the leading American repertory theatre, are leaving by plane for New Zealand on September 19 for a year’s tour. They will join Gordon H. Grimsdale, of Wellington, who organised the troupe during his recent appearances and studies at the Playhouse. Mr Grimsdale has just returned to New Zealand with his wife to book the company’s advance dates. Upon arrival, the players will rehearse for three weeks, opening either at Wellington or Christchurch at the end of October with “The Jest,” starring Richard Bath. Other young players journeying to New Zealand are Charlotte Komenich, Malcolm Mealey, Annabelle Alexander, Ruth Vogel, Alice Rolph, Henry McGuire and Cliff Halle. Upon completion of the New Zealand tour, the troupe will probably go to Australia.
