The Foreign Office announced that Brazilian authorities had detained on Fernando Noronha Island 10 Norwegian Nazis, who escaped from Norway in the small motor yacht Solbris. The Norwegian Legation at Rio de Janeiro is understood to be requesting their extradition. The Nazis included sentenced and unsentenced collaborators, who escaped from a detention camp near Bergen on July 3. They sailed from Norway aboard the Silbris, called at the British port of Weymouth and then the Spanish port of Vigo'. The Solbris left Vigo on July 25 for an unknown destination.
