Equipment Token From Coastal Light

(P.A.) WELLINGTON, This Day. “In these enlightened days it is hardly conceivable that there are individuals who take a delight in damaging automatic lights in isolated localities on our coast, blit mischief of this nature is still being committed,'’ said the Minister of Marine (Mr O’Brien) yesterday.

He was referring to the Honeycomb Rock navigation light, half-way between Cape Palliser and Castlepoint, which recently ceased to function because the door of the tower had been forced open and certain equipment stolen.

The Minister said the light was a valuable aid to navigation to vessels making Wellington port and tire perpetrators of the damage must have been aware of the danger they wilfully created. “The offenders may expect prosecution with the utmost rigour,’’ he added.
