Pope, President 1 Urge Moral Reconstruction
(11 a.m.) VATICAN CITY, Aug. 28. The Pope and President Truman, in •cm exchange of messages, called for the cooperation of all churches for world moral and material reconstruction.
President Truman’s letter, dated August 6, declared that unless the moral forces of the world joined their strength discouragement must inevitably deepen and strength and effectiveness would be gained by the forces seeking to oppose and destroy moral forces.
’ He pledged himself to work with the rope and with every agency of good the world over for enduring peace, which could only be built on Christian principles. The world’s greatest need was a renewal of faith. POPE’S REPLY
The Pope’s reply said the American people’s- desire for universal peace and prosperity was shared in the countries where free expression was smothered.
Plistory made it clear that when the order of God was overturned the inevitable results were subversion of order between peoples, and war.
