Air Service In Demand
(Special.) KAITAIA, This Day. Scope for increased air service facilities to serve Northland, and the Far North in particular, is illustrated by the number of passengers now handled at the Kaitaia airport. All available accommodation between Kaitaia and Auckland is booked up until midway through next month, and seats to Whangarei also necessitate booking up a fortnight in advance. Last Saturday the National Airways service landed nine passengers at Kaitaia and took off the same number, while the outward plane on Tuesday carried four passengers each for Kaikohe and Whangarei, and two—the only available seats —for Auckland. Yesterday, the service carried eight passengers to and from Kaitaia. There is no indication when the promised extension in the service will take place. Good facilities for passengers now exist at the Kaitaia airport, a wellfurnished lounge helping to fill in waiting time between arrival and departure of the aircraft.
