Winter Exhibition Stallholders Meet

Suggestions and constructive criticism were invited by the president of the Whangarei A. and P. Society (Mr H. W. James) when Winter Exhibition stallholders met last night. A revival of the pigeon race from Frankton for the shield presented by the association was advocated. To obviate the difficulty encountered with free passes for exhibitors it was recommended that the price per foot be lowered, exhibitors being required to buy passes. It was also pointed out that high partitions erected at some stalls interfered with the light and sound systems The meeting agreed that it would be reasonable to ask stallholders to limit the height of partitions. INSTITUTE COURTS In support of the ruling that no stall was to be dismantled until the Monday morning after the show, the president said that not one case of loss from a stall had been reported. This was very gratifying, as there had been trouble in the past. Discussing a request for space for Women’s Institute stalls, speakers were emphatic in their praises of the standard set by the district courts. One claimed that they made an outstanding contribution to the success of the show. An incre'ase in the allocation of space was recommended. Lack of outside space was causing the executive some concern, but it hoped to obtain more land in the near future. This would give space for improved dining facilities. The meeting was unanimous in its determination to maintain the high standard set by past shows, which had been compared favourably with the Sydney Royal Show.
