Ceylon Tea Sale
(Rec. 1.30 p.m.) COLOMBO. Aug. 27. Ceylon tea sale offerings totalled 3.G98.0001b. The market generally was dearer by two to three cents a lb. Although there was a strong demand, especially for high grown and medium grown, no fancy prices were offered, and the highest price was 233 cents a lb for broken orange pekoes tannings.
Sister Strugnell and Brother Price were initiated into the order at a wellattended monthly meeting of the Whangarei MUIOOF. Brother E. Stewart presided. After the business had been completed, a social organised by Sister Crawshaw was presented. A sketch entitled “Murder in the Lighthouse” was popular and a competition. “Say, Do or Sing" caused amusement. A women’s committee supplied supper.
