Epidemic Kills Brisbane Children
(Rec. 1 p.m.) BRISBANE, This Day. An epidemic of gastro-enteritis among Brisbane children is causing a high percentage of deaths. The gastro-enteritis attack is followed by mastoid infection, which is causing most of the deaths. A doctor said that more than 101) children suffering from this disease had been admitted to the Brisbane Children’s Hospital and private hospitals in the past three weeks. Children up to three years had con'tracted the disease but most of them were babies under one year.
They came from the crowded and unhygienic areas of Brisbane. Doctors had saved many lives by giving blood transfusions.
