MEMORIAL UNVEILED
i A tribute to the memory of the late Flight-Sergeant Geoffrey Dale was paid by the management and staff of the Northern Advocate yesterday afternoon. A memorial photograph and inscription were unveiled at a ceremony attended ' by about 35 members of the staff. Flight-Sergeant Dale was employed in the jobbing department of the Advocate from 1934 to 1941. He was killed on active service overseas in October, 1942. Flight-Sergeant Dale was a young man for whom the staff had the highest , admiration and respect, said the president of the Advocate Social and Welfare Club (Mr M. Whitelaw). “He was beloved by his fellow workers all of whom gladly share in paying this fine tribute to his memory. “He gave his all for his King and country for the preservation of democracy and freedom, so that we may live in peace and security.” The memorial would serve as a lasting tribute to a fine young man who put duty before self and who gained the highest measure of esteem, said Mr Whitelaw. The memorial was then unveiled by one of the directors of the firm (Mrs H. W. Crawford). Flight-Sergeant Dale’s mother, Mrs E. J. Dale, of Cross Street, expressed on behalf of her husband and herself her appreciation of the tribute.
