Hope To Ship N.Z. Cattle To Palestine

(Special) AUCKLAND. This Day. If shipping can be arranged a largescale attempt is to be made to ship livestock from New Zealand to Palestine.

Three Jews have arrived in the Dominion to conclude the purchase of several hundred head of breeding and beef cattle, which they hope to ship to Palestine and to help to develop the farming industry there following the increased immigration of Jews from Europe.

The principals in the deal. Messrs P. Torok and S. Treibatch, and thenshipping adviser, Captain R. N. Beim, who are in Auckland, believe that their plan has great possibilities in developing for New Zealand a ready market for its livestock in the Middle East. SMALL SHIP BOUGHT

A Wellington message says plans for the use of the small Auckland motorvessel Rosalie in a regular service between New Zealand and the Middle East were announced by a representative of the Wellington company which has purchased her from the War Assets Realisation Board. The sale of the Rosalie, which is being fitted out at Auckland, was announced last week.

The ship will run to Palestine. Italy and Greece on. four-monthly voyages from New Zealand. She could carry tinned foodstuffs and in return will bring cargoes of olive oil, oranges, cotton piece goods and all classes of raw clothing materials. LEAVE FROM AUCKLAND

Her owners do not expect that she will have any difficulty in crossing the Tasman and Indian Oceans, in spite of her size!

The Rosalie will leave on her first voyage within the next four weeks from Auckland, which will be the starting point for all her trips. With the exception of her master, Captain R. N. Beim, of Palestine, her crew of 14 are all New Zealanders. There is no accommodation for passengers, and a rumour that the ship will carry Jewish immigrants to New Zealand is emphatically denied by the company.
