Northlanders In Rugby League Trial

Two Northlanders and three cxNorthlandcrs have been chosen to take part in a Possibles v Probables Rugby League trial match at Carlaw Park. Auckland, on Saturday.

Reg Hollows and Vince, Payne, the two men nominated by the sole selector to the Northland Rugby League (Mr W. Cole) have been placed in the Possibles scrum, Hollows in the second row and Payne as breakaway. Claude Hancox, ex-Rodney and Northland Rugby rep., is in the second row of the Probables scrum.

Ivor Stirling, the former ex-Old Boys Club arid Whangarei rep. half a few years before the war, and Ron Nurse an old Hikurangi boy and first-class y/inger, are with Hollows and Payne in the Possibles side. Des Barchard, ex-Auckland rep., and All Black trialist, is first five-eighth for the Probables. .

The game is a -curtain-raiser to that between Auckland and the Rest of the North Island.
