R. C. Hosking 5 Under Par

GOLF

R. C. Hosking played exceptional golf at Ml Deriby on Saturday to return a net score of GB. five under par for the course.

He was competing in a medal round played in conjunction with the first round of the Whangarei club handicap and had his handicap reduced three. His card was 88—20—G8.

N. H. Farrell, the next best, handed in a G 9 net and came down two. His figures were 93—24—69. The next two, B. Fairley, 79—9—70. and F. Kreeghcr 93 —22 —71, were each reduced one.

Other good cards were J. A. Harrison 96 —24—72; C. A. Jones 83 —10—73; C. Weymouth 97 —24—73.

Five Reductions

At Whau Valley

Five Whau Valley golfers reduced thc-ir handicaps in the first medal round for three trophips played on Saturday.

They were L. Going 15 to 13, D. Foote'l3 to 12; J. Stevens 20 to 19: B. Elollows 24 to 22 and N. Atkins 24 to 23.

In the Rawca Shield competitioh (seniors) the best cards were returned by Going 85 —15—70; Foote 35—13 —72; R. Nisbet 89—10—73. In the Dull Cup (intermediate), the three best were J. Stevens 92 —20—72; C. Weir 94—21—73; J. Oliver 94—18 — 7G.

For the North Cup (juniors) the best were F. Cole 97—30—G7; B. Hollows 94—24—70; N. Atkins 90—24—72.
