FOR THINGS TO COME The interior of the Winter Show building presents a scene of bustle and work these days. Display stall holders are engaged preparing for the show. One or two stalls have the names of firms already displayed and by the foundations laid for others it is possible to visualise something of what the interior will look like on opening night. TUTUKAKA LIGHT

Advice has been received by the Marine Department that the light at Tutukaka is out. The light, which is unwatched, is a valuable guide for coastal navigation and it will be relit as soon as possible. Inquiries made from the Whangarei Harbour Board this morning revealed that the failure had not been reported to the board. An investigation is being made. Less than a month ago the light was refuelled by harbour board employees.

TURIWIRI JERSEY SALE The auctioneers of the North Auckland Farmers’ Co-op. Ltd. draw the attention of visitors to Mr E. K. Simons' sale of class-producing Jerseys at Turiwiri on Wednesday June 18. For the convenience of buyers, the cattle are all branded and a catalogue with ages, butterfat records and calving dates will be available. The herd’s top average is 339 lbs of butterfat for the 1944-45 season (factory returns). 597
