HOBSON HOSPITAL LEVY
Reduced by £1909 cn the previous year, the Hobson County Council's hospital levy for the year ended March 31, 1948, is *£4912. DELAYED BY RAIN
Heavy rain on Saturday delayed the Northern Steamship Co. Ltd's cargo chip Ranginui in Whangarei over the week-end. Loading was carried on at the Town Wharf today and the Ranginui is to sail for Auckland on the afternoon tide. She will return with cargo from Auckland on Wednesday.
FOR THINGS TO COME The interior of the Winter Show building presents a scene of bustle and work these days. Display stall holders are engaged preparing for the show. One or two stalls have the names of firms already displayed and by the foundations laid for others it is possible to visualise something of what the interior will look like on opening night. TUTUKAKA LIGHT
Advice has been received by the Marine Department that the light at Tutukaka is out. The light, which is unwatched, is a valuable guide for coastal navigation and it will be relit as soon as possible. Inquiries made from the Whangarei Harbour Board this morning revealed that the failure had not been reported to the board. An investigation is being made. Less than a month ago the light was refuelled by harbour board employees.

For the convenience of buyers, the cattle are all branded and a catalogue with ages, butterfat records and calving dates will be available. The herd’s top average is 339 lbs of butterfat for the 1944-45 season (factory returns). 597
