Coal Shortage Spoils Sydney Holiday
(Rec. noon.) SYDNEY, This Day. Hundreds of holiday tourists were stranded at Central Station last night when only 47 trains left for resorts instead of the usual holiday week-end number of 64. (Monday is the King’s birthday holiday). The coal shortage has caused holiday schedules to be cut. Early this morning many people were sleeping on Central Station. Thous/Tic'/ s had crammed into every train which left Central Station for the country. Ordinarily 64 trains would carry about 20,000 passengers, but this number crammed into 47 trains last night.
